Creativity Shines At Cape Cod Art Association

Back in 1948, a group of art lovers got together and formed the Cape Cod Art Association (CCAA) with a mission to promote and support art and artists in the area. Nearly 70 years later, the organization has grown from 300 members to more than one thousand, and is a shining example of what can happen when passion and talent combine.

The Association, which is located in Barnstable Village is a bevy of activity—with galleries, classrooms, and a gift shop. The venue has so much going on that it is outgrowing its present home, and there are plans to expand, adding more gallery and workroom space.

It makes a great stop for visitors year-round, where they can take in a gallery show and peruse the wonderful gift shop which is filled with original art, jewelry, books and more. The space also offers a Brown Bag Lunch Series, a favorite with locals and visitors both.

And if you’d like a bit more hands-on learning, there are painting classes, photography classes and one or two-day workshops, such as the upcoming one titled “iPad as an Artist’s Tool.

It’s easy to see why they’re outgrowing their space! You can check out all the classes and workshops on the CCAA website, but here is a sampling of a few of the upcoming shows.
