Walk through the doors of Cape Cod Potato Chips in Hyannis, Massachusetts, and you’re in snack heaven. This is where some of our favorite munchies are made, and one of the area’s top tourist draws. No wonder!
Cape Cod Potato Chips got its start a little over 30 years ago, making super-savory thick-sliced chips in a modest 800-square-foot storefront. The “Ridiculously Good Chips” are all-natural—just potatoes, salt and oil—and made one batch at a time in custom kettles, which gives them the distinctive crunch and hearty flavor. Like waffle chips? The company makes these too, using a unique cut so they’re double thick, ideal for dipping.
The company continues to branch out, developing new products to keep us snackers happy. These include Dipping Shells, flavorful tortilla chips shaped to easily scoop up a dip or salsa. And for all the popcorn lovers, a new line of Cape Cod Popcorn: Sea Salt, Kettle Corn and White Cheddar that taste indulgent, yet are remarkably low in calories.
To get a close up look at how all of these are made, you can take a self-guided tour, which is free. The facility is located just two miles from our B&B, about a 5-minute drive.
