There’s no end to the fun and festivities planned for July 4th, 2016, around our Barnstable area. From early morning parades to late night fireworks, our guests can fill their day with activities. Here’s a preview.
Little towns all along our stretch of Cape Cod will be hosting parades with floats, bikes, dogs and anyone who wants to join in.
9:00 a.m. Barnstable/West Barnstable. This parade is just minutes from the Inn!
10:00 a.m. Centerville
11:00 a.m. Cotuit and Hyannisport
1:15 p.m. Hyannis Inner Harbor Boat Parade
4:00 p.m. Hyannis Parade
The entire area will be festive as visitors and locals head to the beaches to play, and settle in at one of our wonderful outdoor restaurants. If you’d like to have a picnic, we can give you ideas for the best places to pick up all the fixings.
For some music, head to Hyannis between 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 pm and you can hear the Town Band perform at the Village Green, and from 7:00 p.m. to dusk enjoy a free concert with local musicians at Asetlon Park.
Then you’ll want to grab your lawn chairs and get ready to watch fireworks. Best viewing is at the beaches around Hyannis Harbor or the West Yarmouth beaches along Lewis Bay, where the fireworks will start around dusk. Be sure to bring your sweaters—it can get chilly by the water once the sun goes down.
At 9:00 p.m. it’s time for the Sandwich Boat Parade. A tradition since the late 1880’s, the parade consists of small boats and canoes decorated with paper lanterns that are lit by candles. It’s a lovely spectacle!
Back at the B&B, you can wind down the evening on our backyard patio, a perfect finish to a great Independence Day!
