The Cape Cod Scallop Festival, coming September 23-25, 2016, is not just for lovers of the delicious bivalve. It’s for everyone who enjoys the flavors, sights, and joys of life on the Cape.
The annual event, held in East Falmouth, MA, is always a lot of fun, with a flurry of activities throughout the weekend. Scallops, of course, are the star. Every year more than three tons of scallops are deep-fried and served with sides of French fries, coleslaw and rolls. Herb-roasted chicken dinners will also be available. Dine inside or enjoy your meal outside while listening to some of the musical entertainment. Among those on the stage lineup this year are the Aldous Collins Band; AfterFab; Dave Macklin Band; and Kristen Merlin, a contestant on “The Voice” TV show, who will be performing on Saturday evening.
If you have younger children with you, you’ll be happy to know there will also be kiddie rides to amuse them.
Another highlight of the fest is the Professional Arts & Crafts Show sponsored by the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce. This nationally-recognized, juried show will offer a wide range of creative work, including pottery, glassware, jewelry, furniture, and food items. It’s a great place to get a head start on holiday shopping!
