It’s finally here! The unofficial beginning of the summer season on Cape Cod is undeniably Memorial Day. It’s a three day weekend that has solemn memorials mixed with patriotic celebrations for all generations and ages.
Ashley Manor is only a few miles away from one of the best small town parades and memorial celebrations around. The annual Memorial Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. sharp on Main Street in Centerville and ends with a ceremony at the historic Beechwood Cemetary. There is a pancake breakfast in a nearby church, Our Lady of Victory, which benefits the Centerville Civic Association and who could resist the penny candy at the 1856 Country Store or some of the best homemade ice cream at the iconic Four Seas Ice Cream shop. All of these are well within easy walking distance.
Most restaurants and shops are open and ready for visitors with all sorts of delicious specials and sales. Take a walk in a conservation area or take a book to the beach and maybe take a nap while listening to the sea.
Most towns on the Cape have some celebration so check local guides for more information.
Weather reports for the weekend are good so make your reservations today! Ashley Manor offers a comfortable stay in a beautiful historic house with an amazing breakfast. You can burn off a few of those calories on our tennis court or play a few games of pickleball.
